The granite vase is a solid block with a hole all the way through and an inner vase (or an "Oasis" insert). At the edge of the hole two small finger holes have been drilled for convenience, when the inner vase has to be removed or the flowers arranged.

Before the block is permanently positioned, 8 – 10cm. pebbles are placed underneath to provide drainage. Because the vase is lowered into the ground it remains stable in all weathers. The flowers will remain fresh for much longer than usual due to the fact that the water remains cool in the natural stone.
